TERMS OF SALE AND LICENCE AGREEMENT

The short version: you buy a licence to use the plugin on up to 3 of your computers, for your own music, commercial or not. You do not own the software and may not share or resell your key.

Last updated: November 2026. Draft to be reviewed before launch.

1. WHO SELLS

The plugins are made by David Espinasse (Weird Software Company) ("Weird Software Company", "we"). Orders are processed by our online reseller Paddle.com, which is the Merchant of Record for all our orders. Paddle handles payment, invoicing, sales tax and VAT, and payment-related customer service such as refunds. Paddle's own buyer terms apply to the purchase: paddle.com/legal/checkout-buyer-terms.

2. WHAT YOU BUY

  • A personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable licence to use the plugin named in your order (or every plugin of the bundle).
  • Activation on up to 3 computers at the same time. You can free a computer at any time from the plugin or from your account page.
  • All 1.x updates of that plugin at no extra cost. A future 2.0 may be a paid upgrade.
  • Music and sounds you make with the plugins are yours, with no royalties, for any use.

3. TRIAL

Each paid plugin runs as a full version for 14 days from its first launch. After that it keeps working but plays 1.5 seconds of silence every 45 seconds until a licence key is activated. Trying to get around the trial or the licence check is not allowed.

4. FREE PLUGINS

Weird Transcriber is free. It uses the MuScriptor transcription model (Kyutai x Mirelo), whose weights are licensed under CC BY-NC 4.0: you may use the plugin and the MIDI it produces in your music, but you may not sell the plugin, its engine or the model, or offer them as a paid service.

5. WHAT YOU MAY NOT DO

  • Share, publish, sell or rent your licence key or a licence file.
  • Copy the plugins for others, reverse engineer, decompile or modify them, except where the law allows it.
  • Remove credits or copyright notices.

6. ACTIVATION AND PERSONAL DATA

Activating a key sends the key, an anonymous machine ID (a hash, never the raw hardware ID), the computer name, the operating system and the plugin version to our licence server. Once activated, the plugin works offline; it checks the licence about once a week when a connection is available and never stops working because the server cannot be reached. Details in the privacy policy.

7. CANCELLATION

A refunded or charged-back order cancels its licence keys: the plugins go back to the expired-trial behaviour on every computer. We may also cancel a key that has been shared publicly, after contacting the buyer.

8. WARRANTY AND LIABILITY

The plugins are provided as they are. Try them with the free trial before you buy to check that they work with your computer and your DAW. Within the limits allowed by law, we are not liable for indirect damages such as lost work or lost profits. Nothing here limits the rights that consumer law gives you.

9. LAW

These terms are governed by French law. If you are a consumer in the EU, you also keep the protections of the law of your country.
